Hyères, August 22, 2024
The Trocadéro Forum Institute (TFI) was founded in 2022 in Paris, with a clear mission of training a new generation in Sustainable Leadership and Diplomacy .
Our French Riviera Retreat 🦩 was a first occasion to bring together colleagues and friends for a few days of impactful conversations in a beautiful setting in historic Hyères, the oldest beach resort on the French Riviera.
As we officially declare and launch our institute in Toulon, we would like to share some highlights from our discussions, showcasing the wealth of knowledge and expertise that we bring together at TFI , and how we hope to guide and inspire a new generation of leaders, who will be able to put sustainability at the heart of their management and leadership decisions .
The design and the delivery of our two-year program was clearly reflected and represented in our discussions at this first edition of our Retreat.
Our dedication, support and engagement of several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals during this Retreat was highlighted in our panels, starting with the first panel, where we discussed the geopolitical and the geoeconomic importance of living in sustainable cities (SDG 9) with clean, renewable energy (SDG 7), all the while combatting climate change (SDG 13), and thereby reducing inequalities (SDG 10) .
In the afternoon , we put the spotlight on the very important role of education (SDG 4) and empowering women and girls (SDG 5) , particularly in war torn Afghanistan , and the necessity to pursue peaceful inclusive societies (SDG 16) and by giving women the roles and the tools to lead and pursue research, innovation and entrepreneurship (SDG 16,17).
Finally , from my experience as a former director of Environment and Sustainable Development of a French city (2008-2011), I wanted to put the spotlight on the city, the place where we all live and where we can directly impact and improve the lives and health of our citizens, by building sustainable and resilient infrastructures, sustainable transportation, sustainable industrialization and foster green innovation (SDG 9, 11).
Thank you for joining us in beautiful Hyères, where participants came from several different countries, enriching and expanding our understanding of the challenges facing us, around several congenial meals on the terrace, poolside and at the vineyard .
I personally look forward to welcoming you next year to our French Riviera Retreat 🦩.
